Ms. Moreau served as a valuable member of the board of directors of the Export Managers Association of California, (EMAC), from 1990 to 2005. She also was Director of EMAC’s Export Small Business Development Center from 1991 to 2003. As Director of the Center, she managed a major international trade program which assisted over 1,000 individuals and businesses to build successful export operations, in Southern California and elsewhere.
Ms. Moreau’s international background made her an ideal person to help establish international trade activity. Although born in Egypt, she grew up in Italy and Chicago. After obtaining her Masters in International Business from UCLA, she entered the international banking field. In addition to founding her own business, Gladys has been a consultant to various businesses and government agencies in the international trade arena. She has volunteered her time generously and has been active in many other trade organizations such as the US Commerce Department’s District Export Council, and the World Trade Week Committee, among others. Gladys speaks several foreign languages, including French, Italian, Spanish and Arabic. She holds numerous honors and awards in recognition of her contributions to international trade.
Her strong interest in international trade and business matters is never ending. Ms. Moreau’s unique skill set has enabled her to take up a new career as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. State Department, and is currently serving in Tunis, Tunisia.
Her accomplishments as a mentor to students, interns and other professionals in the field serve as tangible results of her open-hearted and generous efforts to bring others into the world of international trade. The establishment of this scholarship fund is of special significance because it provides opportunities for success in the field that is her passion.
